The ingredients needed to make Chicken Pilao:
  1. Get 500 g chicken cut in pieces
  2. Get 1/2 cup oil
  3. Get 2 medium onions
  4. Prepare 1 tbsp sabut dhaniya
  5. Get 1 tbsp saunf
  6. Prepare 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  7. Get 1 inch piece of ginger
  8. Take 6 cloves garlic
  9. Prepare 10 black pepper corns
  10. Make ready 1 cinnamon stick large
  11. Prepare 2 bay leaves large
  12. Prepare 2 bari Elaichi
  13. Make ready 2 green cardamoms
  14. Prepare 1 whole onion large
  15. Prepare 1 whole tomato large
  16. Make ready 2 tbsp green chilli paste
  17. Prepare 1/2 cup fried onions
  18. Get 1/2 cup whipped yogurt
  19. Make ready 2.5 cups rice
Instructions to make Chicken Pilao:
  1. In a big pot take adequate amount of water to make yakhni. Put chicken, whole onion, whole ginger, garlic cloves, whole tomato, sabut dhaniya, saunf, all sabut garam masala (as mentioned in recipe card)
  2. Cook this yakhni for 20 minutes on very slow flame. Take out chicken when done and strain the yakhni. Discard all the left over material.
  3. In a pot add oil, fry onions until golden. Add ginger garlic paste then add chicken and yogurt. Cook on high flame until oil separates.
  4. Add salt, black pepper and green chilli paste and cook for another minute.
  5. Add soaked rice and prepared yakhni. Cook until rice are 3/4th done.
  6. Cover now with a lid and cook on very slow flame until all the water of rice is absorbed.
  7. When the water is about to get absorbed add fried onions on rice and cover again with lid and put on dum
  8. Once the water is all absorbed and the rice are done, switch off flame
  9. Dish out hot and serve with love ❤
