- Prepare 15 oz /1 1/2 cups(250gr)cans cooked chickpeas,washed,drain, dry
- Prepare 1/4 cup (60 ml) Tahini paste made from Sesame seeds(supermarket)
- Make ready 2 red whole Bell pepper or Capsicums
- Prepare 1/4 cup lemon juice (1 large lemon)
- Take 1 garlic clove, minced
- Prepare 2 tbs Extra Virgin Olive Oil, plus to serving
- Take 1/2 tsp ground cumin
- Get 2 tsp paprika
- Prepare Pinch cayenne pepper (optional)

Steps to make Homemade Roasted Bell Pepper Hummus ๐ค๐ ๐ถ๐๐ข๐ฎ:
- Remove core of bell peppers then cut into large flat pieces. Arrange bell pepper pieces, skin-side up, on a baking sheet. Broil 5'-10' until the bell peppers skin has charred. Put into a bowl. Cool 10'-15', gently peel away the charred pepper skin and discard. Reserve 2 pieces of the peeled pepper pieces to use as a garnish when serving, then roughly chop the rest.
- Make Hummus: in the bowl of a food processor, combine the Tahini and lemon juice and process for 1 minute, scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl then process for 30" more. This extra time helps whip or 'cream' the tahini, making the hummus smooth and creamy.
- Add the Olive oil, minced garlic, cumin, 1/2 tsp Salt, cayenne pepper (optional) to the whipped Tahini and lemon juice. Process for 30 seconds, scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl then process another 30 seconds or until well blended. ๐Open, drain, and rinse the chickpeas. Add half of the chickpeas to the food processor and process for 1'. Scrape sides & bottom of the bowl, then add remaining chickpeas & process until thick & quite smooth; 1 to 2 minutes.
- Add the roasted Bell Peppers and continue to process for 1'-2' or until smooth. If the hummous is too thick or still has tiny bits of chickpeas, with the food processor turned on, slo sly add 1 to 3 tbs water until you are happy with the consistency. Taste for salt and adjust as needed. Finely chop the reserved Bell Peppers.Spoon hummus into a bowl, make a small well in the middle and add the chopped peppers.
