  6. Get 1 Leftover Ham, large dice
  7. Take 1 tsp. Thyme
  8. Get 1 tsp. Pepper
  9. Make ready 1 large head Cabbage, bite size chopped

If you do decide to use ham for this soup and unless you decide to. Add broth, ham, cabbage, potatoes, onion, carrot, bay leaf and parsley to a soup pot, cover and bring to a boil. Add corn and cream, simmer uncovered until corn is tender. Season with salt and pepper and ladle into soup bowls.

Steps to make Cabbage Soup with Ham:
  1. Soften onion in large pot with alittle fat
  2. Add remaining ingredients except cabbage. Bring to boil.
  3. Lower heat, boil gently until vegs. soften (about 1 hr.).
  4. Add cabbage. Boil gently until soft. About 1 hr.
  5. Serve with crusty buttered bread.

Add corn and cream, simmer uncovered until corn is tender. Season with salt and pepper and ladle into soup bowls. This soup does seem to be sensitive to the amount of potato. In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat until hot but not smoking. If you're making a big bone-in ham for the holidays this year, don't throw away the leftover ham bone once all the meat's been cut off.
